Chinese New Year (stfu)

I commented this yesterday and figured I’d share the lore for anyone who wasn’t around because the constant “what’s happening” threads are doing my head in.

In 2017, there was a bull run. ICOs were making money hand over fist, regardless of whether or not they had a use case. I was building community management automation for them.

Then it all came crashing down and the now familiar to me copium started. Everyone was trying to figure out what happened and one of the repeated speculated reasons was that Asian holders were selling their bags to have cash for Tet (lunar new year) and would buy back in afterwards. Of course that never happened because as always, the market is just a market and often, forces beyond retail were dictating the price action.

I tell you this because when that correction happened, as so many people do in their first cycle, I was one of the people trying to rationalise why my magic internet money was looking less than magic.

I never found out exactly why, and never will, but guess what? It doesn’t fucking matter. I hodl’d and stfu.

So just do the same. Don’t panic sell, don’t keep yourself up at night because nobody in retail knows wtf is going on.

Just sit tight, stfu, and wait for the eventual recovery (and buy more).
